Press Release - June 1, 2010 : "Statement By Investigators Regarding Leaked LAPD Affidavit"

"Today investigators learned that a report from the Los Angeles Police Department was obtained in Los Angeles by the media. This report contained information regarding our investigation into the matter of Patrick Kim McDermott.

"We can confirm for the media that on April 27, 2010, Yvette Nipar, Mr. McDermott's former wife, filed cause / case # 100910585 with the Los Angeles Police Department, the accusation being "unwanted emails."  Accordingly, the LAPD opened an investigation regarding this matter. The allegation was that Investigator Philip Klein was sending Yvette Nipar "unwanted emails."

"On April 28, 2010, Investigator Philip Klein was informed of the LAPD investigation by detectives in the Van Nuys Division.

"On April 29, 2010, Philip Klein, filed a six page Affidavit with exhibits of email exchanges between Nipar and Investigator Klein. Each email was sent to Ms. Nipar in response to emails sent to investigators. All emails were polite and appropriate responses to unsolicited emails sent by Ms. Nipar to Investigator Klein.

"On April 30, 2010, the City of Los Angeles City Attorney reviewed all of the documents submitted by the parties and determined there was no crime committed by Investigator Klein. The City Attorney's office issued a "prosecution declined" statement.

"In the Affidavit - Investigator Klein detailed information that was being requested from Ms. Nipar - which does include a DNA swab from her minor son. Ms. Nipar has not cooperated with investigators to which we acknowledge that she is under no obligation to cooperate with investigators.

"As the media begins to disperse this Affidavit, and the public is given an inside glimpse of what investigators are looking for - it is important for all parties to understand - and let us be clear - this is still a fluid investigation. It is our hope that Ms. Nipar cooperates in the future.

"Regarding the Affidavit and attached exhibits to the Los Angeles Police Department to which we have been asked to comment - our only comment is that they stand on their own and are accurate.

"Mr. Klein would like to personally thank the Los Angeles Police Department and the Van Nuys Detective Division for their prompt, professional and objective investigation regarding this matter. During this investigation Mr. Klein has insured that all laws of Texas and California, as well as international law have remained intact during dealings with Ms. Nipar.

Press Release : "US Coast Guard Report - As Released By Radar Online"

"On May 3, 2010, our firm was advised that RADAR ONLINE and another periodical based in Australia obtained a copy of the United States Department of Homeland Security preliminary investigation report - which is (was) being used by investigators in this case. We can confirm that some of the information is correct and accurate. However, there are many areas of the report that were just simply left out and we have determined these news agencies simply do not have the full report (s).

"As we (the Klein Team) is in the final stages of issuing our final report regarding this matter in book form we want to assure the public that the entire story will be issued in a timely manner. As well - the US Coast Guard Report in its entire form will be included in our final report (book).

"In such - before it is released Mr. Klein has agreed to do interviews with the media at this time. (YVETTE SHEARER)

"We - being investigators - put percentages on our conclusion (s), we have raised our conclusion rating to 99% sure of proof of life and await one final piece to the very interesting puzzle that has developed in this matter.

"Once the entire story is told - it will be clear to the public of the true story of what happened to this man."

Special Announcement - March 30, 2010

Today lead investigator Philip R. Klein announced the following :

"Today marks the end of the our hunt for Patrick Kim McDermott, AKA Patrick Kim, an Asian American Male, formerly of Los Angles California. Investigators have concluded beyond a reasonable doubt that Mr. McDermott is alive. We have received both documentation and voice imprints from McDermott and from a "lawyer" that states he represents him. Mr. McDermott's wishes, according to his counsel, is not to be "hounded" any longer by investigators or the media. In return for our agreement to end our search - McDermott and his lawyer have sent our firm "proof of life." As we are now in the process of confirming the information provided to us this week  - we will hold our investigation. If we find truth to what we have been provided - we will announce such.

"This firms intentions, if the information is found true, will produce such to his family first, the US Coast Guard second, and lastly we will produce to the public in the form of a upcoming book : THE HUNT FOR PATRICK KIM MCDERMOTT - THE TRUTH BEHIND THE MAN"

"We thank the public for the leads that ended this hunt - as well we thank law enforcement in three countries including the United States and INTERPOL."

Media

This case has garnered much attention from all over the United States to around the world. As we realize the attention this case has brought to the missing and those who run from law enforcement and life - we have had to make certain changes in the way we have dealt with the media and granting interviews.

We would like the media to know we understand their job and respect their need and obligation to report this case to the general public. However, we want to remind the media that this is still a "fluid" and "active" case. Investigators in this case are holding some information back from the media and will continue to do so because we do not want to compromise the integrity of the investigation. As well, the country of Mexico is going through some issues and our investigators must travel into Mexico. We, again, withhold some information from the media in this regard for the safety of our investigators assigned to this case. As well as to Mr. McDermott.
